If I had another chance to talk to you

even just a few more minutes

I wouldn’t waste a single breath

I would ask you how you are

what it’s like where you are now

I would want to know if you have been watching over me

because sometimes it feels like you are

I would tell you that I am doing well

better than I thought I could

better than I thought I would

but I still ache in all the quiet spaces

I don’t think that will ever change

I would ask if you are proud of me

if you see how hard I am trying to

move through each day with grace

I would ask you if you miss me

the way that I miss you

fiercely

endlessly

every minute of every day

with a love that will never fade

If I only had a few more minutes

for one more conversation

I don’t think I could stop talking

there are too many things

my heart still wants you to know

So many things I want to say

Like…

I love you

in ways that time has only deepened

and I miss you

in the spaces between every breath

you are still a part of my days

woven quietly into everything that I do

I miss you…

If I only had a few more minutes to say one last thing

I would say all of this to you
